Slight pink hue when overheating yellow gold

Many thanks in advance to all - the advice given is so much
appreciated. I’ve been fussing around with some 14 k yellow gold
bezel and was thrilled to solder it to an Argentium silver backplate,
after much help from some members on this forum. In fact, I’ve made
two rings and will send along pics later. I’ve noticed on a couple of
the gold pieces that I’ve done, a faint pink hue, not uniform, which
I am assuming is copper being brought to the surface. What are my
options for removing this and how the heck do I prevent it in the
future? Will the karat make a difference in the future?

Thanks again,
Ros
