Silver plating powder Was: Firescale

Has anyone used silver plating powder to cover firescale on
sterling? I’ve heard the tantalizing rumor that this might be
THE ANSWER! How would one apply it? If it only binds with
copper, would the scale be enough copper? What about plating the
whole firestained piece in old pickle with a paper clip (say that
3 times) to copper plate it, then coat the whole thing with the
powder? What if…

Dear Ruth:

I have had siver pieces with firescale plated by a professional
plater…I would not do it myself because I think the process is
proably pretty unhealthy for the lungs…

electrical industry to plate worn contact points for better
