I ran into this problem as well. A lot of my pieces are mostly
leather with small amounts of metal and carved bone and gemstone
ornament, or mostly carved material. I’ve taken to carving
simplified version of the broken sword that has become my maker’s
mark on the back, bottom, or such unobtrusive place. If theres room
to do it without it being unsightly, I’ll add the last two digits of
the current year. It’s tricky, some pieces I just have to photograph
and date for my portfolio. I’m still working this out, I’m a
hobbyiest…
