Question,

Did any of you go to the JCK show? Or the Milwaukee Bead & Button
show?

I would like to hear your opinions and/or experiences.

Milwaukee Bead and Button was good for me (first time).
Everyone who was there before said that it was down.
Inexpensive products (not cheap) did much better.
Customers were looking for Basic products.
Did have more foreigners than I expected.
Organizers were very good and the venue is great.

I have been teaching at Bead & Button for the last 4 years, and
selling kits to my students and at Meet the Teachers. This year I
netted just over half what I did last year. I was chosen for fewer
hours of teaching, and had to cancel a two-day class for lack of
registration. I did end up netting about the same per day of
teaching, however. There seemed to be as many people there, though I
guess I can’t really say, since I don’t do the expo itself.

I’ve been doing the bead and button show for over ten years even
before it moved to milwaukee it was in portland, any way it has been
a good show until about 2006 and the classes and teaching increased
dramatically I can’t tell you how many ladies i’ve heard complaining
that they are in classes all day and dont have time to shop the
vendors and of course the teachers sell kits and supplies along with
the course fees etc, the attendees have seemingly less and less
money to spend shopping. Also on the last day of the show alot of
import bead strand sellers put signs up saying “sunday special,
$1.00/strand” When I saw those signs over the last couple of years I
knew that I was at the wrong show, and this was the first year I
didnt sell at the show.
