Separating argentium and sterling

Both argentium and regular sterling ear wires were ordered and both
packages were opened and mixed together. When it was discovered that
two different types of metal were mixed, I wondered if I could find
a way to separate the two. I put both types in a sealed plastic bag
of rubber bands. The sulfur in the rubber will tarnish sterling.
After three days, the sterling had a distinct degree of tarnish that
the argentium did not.
