Selling Scrap Metal

I am ashamed to admit it but i do not melt down my own scrap and
roll out fresh sheets of silver. some day I will but not yet. I
save all my scrap (dust and all) and at the end of every other
month I bring it in to a place on 47th street(myron tobak) and
sell my scrap. the thing is, I don’t think I am getting the best
price possible for scrap. Their prices for scrap are totally
random depending on who receives it.Is there a better place to
sell scrap to?

don’t be ashamed of it. While I make all my own gold and
platinum sheet metal, getting a sufficiently good ingot to roll
bubble free silver is difficult enough that i don’t bother. I
make my own silver wire, as any flaws in the ingot either end up
as a harmless “thread” in the wire, or if bad enough, form a
small bad section of the wire easily found and avoided. But
sheet? I buy that. It’s the main source of silver I buy. With
the exception of sheet from non-sterling alloys, or special uses
where I might WANT flawed sheet metal, my scrap silver ends up as
wire, or later, as stock for casting with. Only contaminated
stuff ends up going to the refiner…
