See through RTV

#1

Just wondering which is the best choice in “see through” RTV rubber
at the moment. I’m presently using vulcanising rubber but wondering
if the latest advances have helped improve the mould making and
cutting process, to a point which compares favourably if not
exceeding that of the vulcanising process.

I would also be interested in any UK supplier of recommended
products please.

Dear Alan, This is Michael Knight at CASTALDO . We have an
experimental “clear as glass” compound that is still in development.
Please give me your address and I’d be happy to send you a sample.

The offer is open to anyone else out there who is interested.

Hi Alan, I have used Zero D’s Akron RTV Clear Silicone for years and
I have been very happy with it.
http://www.zerodproducts.com/page4.html It has great tear strength
and is easy to use. It is also a great way to teach moldmaking, as
the student can see through he mold to cut their wax pattern free
without trashing it. HTH Kate Wolf in Portland, Maine
