[Seattle] Teaching / Research Opportunity

The Metals Program at the University of Washington-Seattle is
seeking a sabbatical replacement for Mary Hu for her third
one-quarter leave Winter Quarter, 2006 (January 3-March 17).
Responsibilities include teaching one undergraduate course in casting
and multiple production (6 contact hours weekly), plus meeting with
independent study seniors and graduates. Sought is someone with a
strong metalsmithing or jewelry background (an MFA is not required),
who has an interest in the latest in digital and laser advances in
the field, as the visitor will have use of Metals’ extensive facility
that includes a CAD lab with haptic interface design tools, titanium
casting, laser welding/cutting, 3D laser scanning, FDM, Rapid
Prototyping (wax printing and multijet modeling), and wax and metal
CNC milling machines. The studio has a trained half-time technical
instructor for any needed technical training. Salary $4800. Travel
