Searching for summer workshop

#1

I’ve been a sculptor for 30 years doing figurines for the Franklin
Mint and the Noble Collection. Now I want to create Faberge-style
jeweled pieces with engine turning incorporated into them. I had one
jewelry course way back in college with Robert Von Neuman, but I
have forgotten a lot about the various techniques of casting,
polishing, working with stones, setting, etc. Is there a summer
workshop anywhere where I can spend a week or two for an intensive
immersion in a broad range of jewelry techniques?

Hi Larry,

We have one spot left in our “Start Here” week long jewelry
workshop. We cover not only the basics but introduce you to casting,
mold making, hydraulic press and more. It’s a week long survey course
of lots of possibilities.

For the workshop itself, you can check it out on our website:

One of our students put out a nice blog on her experiences at
Metalwerx.

Scroll down the page until you reach:

The “Decider” Ring

You could go to the Society of North American Goldsmiths website
(google it). There is a listing of where to take classes at
universities and colleges.
