What is the safest/best fuel to use in an alcohol lamp? Years ago I
had read to use only methanol in an alcohol lamp that I use for
dopping cabochons because of its clean burning. It has worked very
well as it burns clean and dissolves small bits of dop wax left on
the stone but with the current discussion I wonder just how safe it
is to use. Maybe it is not at all safe. I have had no know problems
but breathing of some fumes is hard to avoid along with some skin
contact cleaning up with a rag. It seems as though the issues
already brought up apply as well to dopping. So what do people use?
