Hi Bill, We build our own cnc machines that will soon be availble on
the market… We also make a controller with software that can be
hooked up to your mill … this will convert your mill to cnc . You
would have to fabricate the mounts for the stepper motors. You would
need 3 stepper motors with belt drive pulleys mounted on them , the
controller, our software that runs the controller and an art
program such as corel 10 or Adobe . Costs can vary according to the
stepper motors needed to run the system and the output power of the
control box. You would also need to decide what medium you will be
working with… carving in wax … or directly in metal. Your spindle
speeds may not be fast for small jewelry work which can get very
expensive to modify. If you’s like to call me to ask questions about
this , I will include my phone number and contact Info.In many
cases, it might be less trouble some and less costly to buy our small
system for jewelry work.In all cases, our controller will work with
other software . Best Wishes, Daniel Grandi Racecar Jewelry Co.

Bill, Go to flashcutcnc.com they have conversions and a very
knowledgeable staff.

David

Bill, I don’t kinow anything about the Rockwell and cannot locate any
conversion kits for that machine It might inded be possible, but
would probably b e much easier and more cost effective to get a
small CNC milling machine lik e the ones made by Flashcut
(wwwflashcutcnccom) These folks provid e excellent service and
support, and you won’t get too far into CNC before you realize that
service and support is a very strong part of the purchase decision
Going it on your own or with poor support is a real bummer Ben there,
done that, forget it If you can’t afford to do it right, farm it out
There is no way to get a cheap macine that does great work, just does
not happen And there many machines to choose from, but few companies
that will help you much after they get your money

Wayne Flashcut is more than happy to help convert peoples existing
mills over whenever possible. I have been doing business with them for
a couple of years now and they have always been most helpful. And
buying a conversion(motors and electronics) is still a cost effective
way to go. David
