A trick I developed for riveting pinstem hinges and omega pivot
pins- I took a pair of needle nose parallel jaw pliers and ball
burred semi- circular holes in the tips about a millimeter in
diameter. I trim the pin so it protrudes maybe a millimeter on each
side, then use the the pliers to form the ends of the pins into
mushrooms flush with the surface of the hinge. Very quick, tidy, and
no heat needed.
