I just ran into an issue with a rhodium plated 14k yellow gold ring
belonging to a friend. It raised a question for me-- is a rhodium
plated 14k yellow gold ring normally priced lower than the identical
ring cast in 14k white gold? If so, why?

Yes because alloys used for white gold are generally higher than
yellow gold, though the difference would only be cents.
