I forgot to mention that the brand I had most success with is Calgon
which is sometimes hard to find.

Washing soda is sodium carbonate, chemical compound, Na2CO3, soluble
in water and very slightly soluble in alcohol. Pure sodium carbonate
is a white, odourless powder that absorbs moisture from the air, has
an alkaline taste, and forms a strongly alkaline water solution.

Already better done by others! (runs down to workshop and looks at
packet) brand is Co-op’s own label, not a help but it really doesn’t
matter - just make it hot!
