Heating epoxy definitely softens it up but probably not enough for
gravity to do the job. You could use a toothpick or narrow dowel and
glue it to the pearl with something like nail polish, which instantly
dissolves in acetone, or rubber cement, which you can peel off, and
use it as a handle to help pull it off.
