Purchasing platinum silver alloy

Hello again everyone,

I am a little steamed, I am a metal arts student, I called ABI
precious metals to try and place a order of the platinum silver
alloy, they would not sell it to me because I do not have a resale
number. I want to experiment with this new alloy but it is going to
be rather difficult to order it because of there policy. I talked to
my teacher hoping that she would be able to make the order with our
colleges federal identification number, they still told me no.

The metal classes at this college brings allot of people from around
the Chicago land area some of these people do make a living from
jewelry making they come to the classes here to further there
experience. I think it would be extremely benifitial to them to sell
to my teacher at least because if she enjoys the product most of her
students will purchase it from word of mouth bringing in more profit
for the company, and thats all it boils down to is the money.

Anyways I am sure I can find someone who has a resale number to
place a order so in the ends I will get my product. But does anyone
know if there are any other company’s offering this unique alloy…

Hi Michael,

Good to hear from you again on Orchid. Companies can do that – sell
only to people with resale licenses. You should get one. It’s not
hard, you can get all the forms on line, and the annual paperwork
requirements are not onerous.

This is the jewelry industry – people can refuse to sell to you for
lots of different reasons, like, they don’t know you.

Nothing to get upset about, really, just find someone to order it
for you or get your own resale license. I think you’re at a point
where you may as well go into business.
