Pripps Flux [Was: Argotec ]

Hi–I have a bottle of Pripps Flux that has been unopened for
about three years. Do you know whether it is still useful, or
does it lose it’s usefulness over time? Sandra

Stuffs good forever. If it’s gets dried out, add water. Try to
use it only when all the solids in the container are in solution,
or the ratio of chemicals can change, changing the performance of
the flux.

G’day, Sandra; I can’t think why there should be any change;
the stuff is pretty stable; use it without fear! Cheers,

Hi Sandra, If the bottle has never been opened, no air or
moisture could have gotten in to react with the contents. My
guess is that it would still be useful (based on chemistry
knowledge, not practical). If the seal is broken, I think that
the acids would have reacted with the air and you might as well
throw it away. Test it and found out - I might be wrong. Hope
this helps Eileen (from Canberra where it’s desperately trying to
snow)
