American tourists will eat anything that's put on a plate.
This is partly, perhaps, because we Americans will not notice
sub-par food… It is also at least in part because we have been
raised to eat what is put in front of us without complaint and clean
our plates, whether we love it or not. It is considered elitist to
send food back, criticize it, or waste it, just because it is not the
freshest, most wholesome or most delicious. This is our Protestant
and Puritan cultural foundation.
