Pot metal

What exactly is pot metal or base metal.

Base metal . . . I don’t think it’s tin . . more like a brass, or copper
or zink base or combo of any of the three mentioned. (I honestly don’t
know . . .)

What exactly is pot metal or base metal.

Base metal is a general term that means the metal can be anything that
isn’t gold, silver or the platinum family of metals.

Pot metal is also a generic term, usually ‘pot metals’ are some form of a
zinc alloy. Since they can be several alloys, they can’t be 'exactly ’
anything. They’re characterized by a low melting temp & a silvery color
when in their natural state after casting.
