Please Vote: *Orchid As A Digest*

Dr. Aspler: I change my vote to a digest, got 42 messages today and thats a
bit much. Other forums I’m aware of use the digest format. I also vote for
people to CLEAN UP their replies and delete all the extra crap, like the
full letter being replied to. Its a real drag to scroll through a huge
letter with three replies in it just to find the subject. Its something I
always do…Dave

I’m just getting back on line after a crazy week and some computer “woes”.

I am for keeping the forum format. The amount of mail can seem overwhelming,
but because I mainly do fabricatiion from brass and copper, many of the
topics discussed are beyond my understanding or interest. It usually is easy
to tell by the subject line whether or not to read or delete. Also, it is
easy to scan a posting to see if I want to follow the thread. Just because
we are on the list doesn’t mean we have to read every email sent.

I like the idea someone suggested about keeping this format and offering the
digest to whomever prefers it. (Granted the digest is a lot of work to put
together.) In the present form, some individuality comes through cyberspace,
so I can still believe I am communicating with real people out there
somewhere. I am afraid a digest form would lose some of the "personal"
interaction.

I say, let the majority rule on this issue.

And thanks, Dr. Aspler, for considering all of us.

I think a digest would be helpful.

I like things the way they are now. Maybe you could have a digest in
addition to the regular list. I find you lose something in the digest form.

Dear Orchid Members,

As the load of orchid’s traffic is getting higher (up to 40 messages
a day!), and for some of you this load seems to be hard to manage,
I would like to suggest you guys to turn the orchid forum into a
digest format.

That is, messages will be send as usual to orchid@ganoksin.com address
but instead of been send to the forum as a separate messages,
they will be edited by me into one digest style posting.

This new format will take place ONLY after I will get your response.

i think that NOT offering orchid as a digest would be very bad. i,
for one have considered unsubscribing for that very reason.

I vote no to changing this list to that format only. But most lists I
subscribe to
have both formats. And this would be better.
