Platinum Workshop

My thanks to Alan Revere, The Revere Academy, and Jurgen Maerz
for having such a great workshop on platinum fabrication.I have
been a jeweler and worked on platinum for several years, and was
quite impressed at how much I learned over the weekend. Very
thorough,tecnical,and informative, without being boring.I
especially like the hands on approach and enjoy networking with
several talented and knowledgeable jewelers. Thanks again. Don

Just my .02 for anyone looking to aquire the platinum skills
that seem to become more indispensible every day. Last summer,
the company I work for brought Jurgen Maerz (Director of
Technical Education, Platinum Guild Int’l.)(hope I got that title
right) to one of our stores for an all day seminar. Jurgen worked
with 5 of us, only one of whom had any platinum skills at all and
within the day had given us all better than the basics. He took
the mystery out of the metal and had us applying our
goldsmithing skills to the special requirements of platinum.
After some great lectures and demonstrations, all of us were
producing properly made projects finished with that liquid lustre
by the end of the day.

Jurgen was LOTS of fun at the bench. I can’t think of a day on
this job that I’d learned more or enjoyed better. If you can’t
get to a seminar with Jurgen, you may want to give a call to
Platinum Guild Int’l and request a copy of his ‘Fearless Platinum
Repairs’ paper. You can also get in touch through them with the
man himself. He’s available to answer tech questions.

Thank you for your kind words Don. It is always a pleasure to
meet a great group of people, who are willing to learn and also
willing to share. It was very rewarding for me to be able to
teach this workshop and I enjoyed it tremendously.I would like to
take this opportunity to thank Alan Revere for giving me the
opportunity to teach this class in his wonderful academy. Stay in
touch, there are many more things to come.
