Pickle with lime

You keep adding baking soda to the pickle until it stops foaming
up and then it is safe to flush down the toilet.  That is, if you
are talking about Sparex or something similar.

I heard that the excessive buubling of baking soda when used with
large amounts of acid (say a litre) gives off harmful fumes. I
therefore use garden lime to do the majority of the neutralising,
then baking soda (from a pool suppliers as Water Neutraliser) as an
indicator to check the neutralising is complete.
