"incorrect can be corrected" -- incorrect according to
whom? Who is the "expert" who decides that what is put up in there
is or is not correct?_Anybody_ can put up whatever they want to,
in there.

But if it’s wrong, it will be corrected almost immediately by some
of the millions of expert contributors, and if the writer is
persistent or malicious, he will be blocked from editing. There’s no
one “expert”, there is a world full of them.

I suggest you read through
Wikipedia:Replies to common objections - Wikipedia and
Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines - Wikipedia to learn

Yes anyone can put whatever they want in there but you would be
surprised how well monitored Wikipedia is. Yes an idiot can put
almost anything up but there is a very large group of knowledgeable
people who monitor most topics looking for unsupported information
and nonsense. It is at least as good as most textbooks in regards to
what is in there. The places where it tends to be less reliable is in
the social / political posts. That area is often overrun with
unsubstantiated posting. But if you want to know things that one
might find in a good encyclopedia then the data on Wikipedia is as
good or better than a printed volume.

I sure would not want to use DSMO that had not been medically
compounded with the strictest of measures for prevention of
contamination. Sadly animals and their medicines are not always up
to standards we want.

That is true, but when it comes to the side effects from not-as-pure
medications, being unsound of limbs is more of a life-threatening
condition for a horse than the other side effects (possible liver
damage, etc.) that might be more life-threatening to humans. A person
can live with a chronic limp, while a chronic limp will probably be
what eventually ends the horse’s life. Either the horse will possibly
founder in one of the other limbs taking up the slack (like Barbaro),
or the horse will just end up not being able to get up. They die very
quickly from pneumonia once they can’t get up. And if you’ve ever
seen a horse that can’t get up any more, you know that they’re in
horrible terror, no matter how much you try to make them feel
comfortable and safe, so the kindest thing to do is put them down (if
it’s not a one-time thing). So horses get soundness medication that
isn’t pure enough for humans because unsoundness for a horse can be
akin to a bad heart for a human.

With Britannica those who do KNOW do the quality review.

As with Wikipedia, except there are a lot more reviewers who KNOW.
Do you think Brittanica has hired all the experts in the world? BTW,
are you familiar with Nature’s blind comparison of Wikipedia vs.
Brittanica? Intro here:
