Beth has sold me on her definition of a gem. Function dictates
nomenclature!
If an artists says that their art is art - it is art! Art is
something that an artist produces and defines as art. Think about it!
Now we have to decide who is an artist.
Artist paint with an unreasonable number of different materials
these days - some the subject of congressional debate. If an artist
defines something as paint then it is paint. If we, as artists,
define something as a gem then it is a gem!
Beth has really started me out on a new track of thinking!
