Can you possibly tell me how to tell the difference, when in a shop,
between pewter and aluminum? They look similar when cast into things
like “antique” picture frames. Is there any easy way to tell them
apart? Thanks, --Selby
Dear Selby, Pewter weighs considerably more than aluminum. Hold a
pair of similar objects made out of each of the materials and you’ll
notice a definite difference.

Pewter is much heavier (more dense) than Aluminum. Pewter…S.G. =
7.3 (approx.) Aluminum…S.G. = 2.70
