As usual your knowledge shines through! It was just a few years ago
that the Soviet’s sub “Kursk” was sunk by her own torpedo. How so,
you ask? It seems that they had on board a torpedo that used
Hydrogen Peroxide as a propellent. In a nutshell, the h202 ate
through
some tubing or fitting, leaked, and eventually caused fire/explosion
that put the sub on the bottom. I believe they said the volume of
the leaking substance would expand to about 5000 times the original
volume.
Here in America, the navy decided that this chemical was tooooo
dangerous for use as a torpedo propellant in our subs.
