Peculiar solder problem

Hi, I have run into a peculiar problem, has anyone ever encountered
exploding solder? I was soldering a joint with some silver solder and
the solder gets glowing red, hisses and then pops. Startling when it
pops and then burns when the solder hits you all over your front
side.Can someone shed some light on this?..Char

Dear Char: Weird…but you did not specify what type of solder, if
paste type is it possible that you got some air trrapped in the
solder that “poped” when the air expanded? HTH Ron

If your working with Silver you need to heat the metal to a dull red
then apply your solder… Silver is different than Gold to work on ROB
