I lived in India the last 15 yrs. It was a pearl market long ago, but
today almost everything is cultured, imported. They boast about old
Basras but they are not genuine pinctada ratiadas although pearls may
come with local certs stating Basra. Conch, melos, or natural
saltwaters are also imported. So, Id recommend you enjoy your visit,
check museums, but not invest large sums expecting a return.
