Paste solder for Argentium

Hello Orchid world,

I would love to have a paste solder for Argentium silver. Does anyone
know if it is available to purchase or how I could make my own?

I solder tarnish-less silver (Cookson’s ‘Brilliante’ silver) with
normal paste solder. Solder tents to tarnish less, i think due to the
zinc (correct me if im wrong) i’ve never had a problem with the
soldering and its never tarnished notisably. however, if anyone wants
to tell me how to make paste solder, dont let me stop you…

Hi Margaret,

Rio carries it. I loathe it. It’s worse than regular ol’ paste
solder. You’re welcome to it if you’d like to contact me off-list. I
have 3/4 of a syringe of the easy and I think almost a full one of
medium.

Whoever you buy your Argentium Silver from should be able to get AS
paste solder for you. I know that Rio Grande has it----others
probably do as well.

Rio does carry both easy and medium paste solder in Argentium.

Easy solder is item # 103-638
Medium solder is # 103-639
Both work well and are ideal for Argentium.
