Oxidising platinum

I am about to engrave a large gents ring with a very tight
geometrical pattern and I need to blacken those lines.

I suggested to my customer that I will rhodium plate the finished
ring, heat it to oxidise the rhodium then polish it off the top. My
customer likes that idea, however the platinum alloy I used to make
the ring is palladium 5%, plat’ and I am not sure that rhodium will
oxidise over that. Has anyone tried using burnt rhodium to
deliberately blacken platinum?

Is there a more conventional way to blacken platinum? The pattern
will be quite detailed and the lines are very fine.

Any help would be appreciated,
