Oxidation

I really like the idea of using a Sharpie as a resist for oxidation. But
I’m not familiar with meythyl hydrate that is used for the removal. Where
do I get that?

G’day: I’ve never heard of ‘meythyl hydrate’, and wonder if methyl alcohol

  • also known as methanol - is meant? It’s chemical formula is CH2OH (the 2
is written as a subscript, but ASCII language can’t do that) and because of
the OH, could be called methyl hydroxide. Methanol is often added to
ordinary alcohol and sold as methylated spirit which is supposed to make it
undrinkable, (but doesn’t!) Actually, for all non-chemical, solvent
purposes methanol, iso-propyl alcohol and ordinary ethyl alcohol are
similar solvents. I believe that in America iso-propanol is often sold as
rubbing alcohol - and is poisonous like methanol. Don’t drink it and say -
    Cheers,
