Outdoor show lighting

I live in Illinois and there are collection sites for the CFL bulbs,
just as there are for batteries and other toxic wastes that shouldn’t
go in the trash.

Unfortunately I have to drive 1/2 hr. to reach the center, my guess
is that a lot of them end up in the trash out of laziness. I, and
some other people I know wrote letters to our legislators suggesting
a policy of “if they sell the bulbs they should collect the old
ones”. This policy is in effect with motor oil here to keep it from
entering the water supply.

My guess is that in about 20 years the politicians will take action
on this pressing matter.

Hello all,

we buy our compact fluorescent bulbs at Home Depot. Six for ten
dollars. That’s the best price around here.

We love them.

I have tried them several times, with intervals in between. In each
case the bulbs went dead after about 4-5 hours.

I do NOT love them!

we have been using compact florescent bulbs since they showed up on
store shelves, ours have lasted for years, indoors and outdoors too!
What kind of fixture are you using them in that they burn out so
quickly?
