Oleic Acid

I have a formula for jewelry cleaner that calls for oleic acid
but the chemist in my area don’t have it listed in their
catalogs.

If anyone knows of a supplier please e-mail me.

Thanks,

G’day Keith; I really can’t think why oleic acid would work as a
jewellery cleaner; it is a pale brown, oily, viscous liquid - an
oil in fact. It is used commercially in the manufacture of
soaps, by boiling it with caustic soda. If you used that you
would then have to do another job to get rid of the oleic acid
oil! Most folk use a detergent with an alkali like ammonia or
washing soda hot, which does a good job, even with just a
toothbrush. Cheers,
