New Optivisor Complaints

Dr. Mac,

I too am happy with the Optivisor, my old one is great and the new
one needs constant fiddling. I am interested in the possibility of
some type of surgical magnifier. From what I’ve seen they have
multiple elements that allows magnification while viewing from a more
comfortable distance than reading glasses or Optivisor. I work with
machinery as part of my business and I don’t like getting as close as
I sometimes have to to see. In some cases there isn’t enough room to
get close and I have to partially break down a setup to get a view. I
look forward to the results of your ‘little book’.

Anyone like myself who wears progressive bifocals has a huge
advantage in magnification. I have a Mag-Eyes visor (love it- light,
comfortable, no “visor hair”) and I find that by adjusting the visor
so that I’m looking through various parts of my bifocals, I can get
a wide range of focal lengths.

Hated the Optivisor. It was forever slipping down and hitting my
glasses, driving them into the bridge of my nose.

I found the Opticaid Clip-on. It's great.

That’s two votes for Opticaid. I just ordered one through Stuller’s
website. The price is now $22.95. Not complaining. I’m thrilled with
Stuller’s service. Even for a “small fish” like me.

Dr. Mac,

I have 2 lighted Optivisor-types, one from Harbor Freight, the other

  • another off brand. I hardly ever use either. Most of my work is
pearlstringing, and I use drugstore reading glasses 3.25 magnifying
glasses most of the time. When I need higher magnification, I have a
pair of clip on Magni-clip on 4.0 magnification that I clip on to
    the drugstore ones.

Here is a site with a large number of different magnifing options:

I look forward to your guide.
