Neil the jeweler had passed away

Judy,

We, you and I are among those who have come to meet and know one
another, beginning right here on Orchid. it is an absolute joy to
find one’s instincts of a basis for friendship reinforced when
actually meeting face to face.

While in Phoenix this week, I met yet another internet friend, yes
successfully and introduced her to another Orchid and personal
friend, they too shared common interests.

Orchid has singlehandedly created connections that would have not
happened the old fashioned way. I am so happy for that. We all
embrace the level of sharing that Orchid is known for, and now the
level of sadness and regret of losing Neil the Jeweler, and the
emotions expressed here. We are indeed an extended family.

Hugs,
Terrie

Hello Jim,

I’m pasting in a message from Neil the Jeweler’s daughter.
Judy in Kansas

Hi Judy My name is Cindy Pennell, I am Neil the Jeweler’s daughter.
Thank you for your sympathies. I signed up for Orchid after my Uncle
told me my dad loved this site. Jewelry was his passion and I know he
loved sharing and getting new ideas from others in the craft.

If you actively talk to any other posters who knew my father could
you please pass along my thanks, Im still trying to figure out how
to use the site.

Thank you!
Cindy

Don’t remember from where or whence: “You judge a captain by his
lieutenants, and a man by his friends…”

Hi everyone. I know this is 11 years late but I just came across this forum while reconnecting with my Aunt in Germany. Thank you all for sharing your wonderful thoughts and memories of my dad. My name is Cynthia Pennell. I am Neil’s middle child. He was a great jeweler and an even greater father. It brings me great joy that his memory lives on in his works of art that people still own. I personally have a ring he gave me the Christmas before he passed away. In the 12 years that I’ve had it. I’ve taken it off twice (because it needed sizing). If anyone is still seeing this I would love to connect. Unfortunately dad did not pass his talents on to me (or my siblings) and we had to close down his store.

There are well over 500 neilthejeweler posts on Orchid. They were worth reading then, they are worth reading now.
