Hi all, Just wondered if there is a proper name for the type of
bezel setting where the metal is “pinched” in places to form a
flower pattern?
Thanks.

HI Chris,
Your description, "… proper name for the type of bezel setting
where the metal is “pinched” in places to form a flower pattern?"
sounds like a buttercup mounting.

Thanks for trying Judy. Actually i was meaning this…imagine a cab
stonesitting in a bezel setting slightly too large, and maybe using
the edge of a pusher, push the metal to stone in say 6 or 8 places
leaving the rest of the bezel as it was. Any clearer? I’ve seen this
on some old rings in the past. Maybe it has no official name.
Without seeing a picture of what you’re describing, it sounds like a
Belcher setting.
