Jim, I always use the yellow tripoli before using the red jeweler’s rouge.
I found I get the best bright polish when I use the sand paper up to 400,
then use a blue, then a green, silicon wheel (I believe the brand name is
silicon softies) then use the tripoli, finally the red, the finish is
flawless (except when I get those #$%^&%#@&*! tiny pits). Its important to
make sure ALL of the tripoli is off of the jewelry before putting on the red
rouge wheel or you’ll contaminate it and never get it scratch free.

I use tripoli and then follow directly with the yellow final buffing
and it works for me.I do keep a chunk of the green Zam and it is the old
standby for silver set with turquoise…I use a fine plastic Moore disk
to clean up castings,on soldered areas etc…Have tried most of the
others and really don’t need them for any reason. The black does work
perhaps best on plated items on a clothe by hand of course…G.

Burnishing with a Foredom and an old bur!! I LIKE THAT! D… there’s some
sharp dudes out there??
