I have been presented with a stainless steel, 9 multi plate links
which I have been asked to remove a link from. The link pins have a
screwdriver slot on each end but when they are turned, they move
independently but do not unscrew - they just go round and round. Has
anyone come accross this format before and if so, how does it come
to pieces?

It’s a pin. Knock it out from the non-split end.
Hello Zed, What appears to be a screwdriver slot isn’t. Push the pin
out from the side opposite the “slot” and all will become clear.
Have fun. Tom Arnold
Its a cotter pin probably. Find the ‘round’ end- opposite of the
’slotted’ end, using a small steel pusher like a worn out micro screw
driver, push it out towards the slotted end. You may need to tap
lightly with a very small hammer, but not likely. Most come out with
solid hand pressure.
