James, Do you think that a coating of clear lacquer like that used
on brass to keep it looking shiny is an answer?

Hi Bruce,

Unfortunately lacquer or other coatings will not work. They just
don’t have the durability to stay on the work . The lifetime of a
coating like lacquer would be measured in weeks. There is just no
good answer except to reserve the use of high copper alloys to
pendants, earrings, pins or other low or no skin contact
applications and only use platinum, gold and silver alloys for most
rings.
