[Mokume-Gane] Etching the mokume

Mokume gane advice is needed! I would like to etch the mokume and my
supplier has multi-etch available, however, the smallest amount comes
in a one gallon size and I don’t need that much! The multi etch
attacks the copper and brass, so what chemical can I use that will do
the same thing?

Thanks in advance.

Ferric chloride will etch the copper and brass, leaving the silver
and gold intact. Enough to make a pint costs about $2.50 US, and is
good for repeated use. Buy it from Bryant Labs or an electronics supplier. K.P in WY
