In the last 2-3 days we have had over 20 people say that they would
like to attend the Orchid Dinner in NYC on Monday, March 7th. In the
past we have always had quite a few last minute people. In order to
secure an adequate size venue, please let me know as soon as possible
if you would like to attend. The cost will be approximately $35. As
an added incentive Rio Grande has generously offered to supply a door
prize, (to be announced), which will be awarded to one of the
attendees. So please contact me asap. It is always a great evening, a
chance to meet and get to know fellow Orchidians. I look forward to
your replies.

Is anyone coming down from Connecticut or passing through the
Hartford area on their way to the NYC dinner who would care to give a
poor, car-less student a ride? Alternatively, could anyone pick me up
at a bus/train station before the dinner and drop me off afterwards?
I really appreciate it. Thanks!

Dear Joel and Kenneth,

What a wonderful atmosphere you two created for our Orchid Dinner in
NYC. We were crammed elbow to ankle, and I just loved it! I was
reunited with old friends, and made new ones at my table. You had
just a few weeks to pull this off and did it successfully.

I felt like I was in a family reunion at a nice Italian restaurant
with all my noisy cousins, aunts and uncles!

Thanks for a special evening.

Kenneth & Joel,

Believe me it was worth every minute of Tuesday’s miserable weather
to attend the New York Orchid Dinner.

The crowd was wonderful and the food was damn good, especially to
this half Italian. The door prizes were great, and so much fun to
see Eddie Bell’s wife win a hammer!

The camaraderie was what we have come to know at all Orchid Dinners.
People really enjoyed putting faces and names together. I know I do
each and every time.

Now about that 25 degree drop in temperature over night, I could
have gone a very long time without that experience. This long
transplanted Brooklynite, no longer owns coats, mufflers, mittens
and galoshes. I did not enjoy climbing subway stair after stair
trying to make the 3 different lines (R, F, & A,) to get to the JFK
Airtrain. Then there was the Airport, I arrived at 2 A.M. for a 5:20
flight which finally left after 11:00 PM. I was in my home at 3:34
AM! I have not been that cold in a very long time. The only time I
want to see snow is with skis on my feet.

Kenneth, it was a pleasure to chat with your very lovely wife, and
Charles, ditto with your very lovely mother.

Hugs
Terrie

San Diego was 62 when we landed at 2 AM. Twice what New York’s
Temperature was all day.

Thank you to all of the Orchid community for making all of this
possible.

To Joel and Kenneth and whoever else helped plan the NY Dinner:
Thanks a lot. It was a great choice of restaurants for atmosphere,
size, food, and price. The cuisine which was just excellent. And it
was great to see so many Orchidians in one room; old friends and new.

Bravo!
