Hi Laura,
I checked out MindSpring, and I might switch to them for dial-up
service when my current contract runs out, but their web hosting
is just WAAAAY too expensive.
I have two different providers. I use EROL’S for dialup.
Frankly, they suck eggs, but my unlimited dialup account costs
only about $12.95/month. They seem to spend all of their money
on self-promotion and very little on their network. It’s gotten
so crowded that from about 2:00pm to midnight it takes 5-10
attempts just to dial in.
My web page provider is a different story entirely. You said
you want your own domain. Here’s what you’d get from DIGIWEB
for $20/month:
SETUP FEE $25
MONTHLY FEE $20
- Your Own Domain
- 25 Megs for WWW/FTP
- 10 Megs for email
- Telnet/FTP Account
- unlimited email aliasing
- 9am to 9pm M-F EST Support
- Full access to CGI
- 200 MB/day of data transfer
- Web server access log
- Real-time traffic reports
- Java, Perl, PHP, C/C++
- Free Shopping Cart Software
You still have to pay the INTERNIC fee, which is $100 for two
years, but there’s no way around that.
You can check them out at http://www.digiweb.com/
goddess grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot
change, change the things I can, and a great big bag of money.
AMEN!
Tom
