Milgrain small bezels

I have to milgrain some bezel set round diamonds, ranging .03
to .20ct. My milgrain wheel is 1.7mm diameter. What’s the technique
to
guide the wheel as I go around the bezel? Do I tip the tool toward
the diamond or away from it or perpendicular? Do I want a sharp edge
or round or flat edge? What’s the ideal thickness of the edge
compared to the wheel? Should I run right around the bezel several
times or rock back and forth?

Thanks

On the smallest bezels it may be best to use a beading tool and make
the beads one at a time. It certainly will be cleaner looking.
