Merchant services

Hello to all of you,

First of all I have to say that I enjoy reading Orchid every day.
Thank you to all contributors for their technical expertise and to
Hanuman Aspler for making the forum possible.

On occasion I asked for help and received it in abandon. Thank you.

And this is another situation. Does anybody use First Data as
merchant provider? Do you know that this company doesn’t cancel old
accounts after opening a new account so you end up being charge
twice. Is this legal? I would understand if I switched providers but
to stay with the same company and to be double billed doesn’t sound
like a ethical business behavior.

Best regards.

did you ask for the first account to be cancellede if not, how do
you expect the company to know that you want this? If you did, then
contact them and see what happened.

One of the services my company provides is merchant services. If you
change from one plan to another with us the first plan would be
cancelled upon receipt of your notification to that effect. In fact
as we would set up the new plan we would likely cancel the first
one. If you’ve been communicating with them call them again and try
to get them to clean this up for you. You should get a credit for the
double billing. Go up the line to a supervisor if you don’t get
satisfaction from your rep. You probably filled out a form for the
new account. Check the wording to see if it asks about prior service.
Feel free to contact me with any other questions. Good luck.

Are you serious?

I worked with First Data rep who assured me the old account will be
closed. I signed all the necessary papers.

The only problem is First Data claims, the account was never closed
and I am still looking for my copy as a proof.

At this point even if I don’t recover my money, I want other
businesses to be aware. And I still think it’s an unethical business
practice. They know what they are doing. My bank account withdrawals
should shown 2 different merchant numbers and I should have receive
statements for the second account as well. Having this I would catch
the overcharge much sooner.
