Merchant account PCI DSS compliance

Hi all. When this issue was discussed recently, I became aware that
the purpose of this new fee was to cover potential losses of customer
credit card info stored on computers. Now I’m even more angry about
this. I never put customer cc info on my computer, so there is no way
it could be compromised. It looks as though businesses like mine are
being forced to subsidize those who are actually potentially part of
the problem- like many of yours. And if a business is forced to
submit to a hard drive scan by the PCI people, it seems like a very
serious privacy issue.

My processor, Teamac, says there’s no way around this. Has anyone out
there found a processor that has a no-charge “Does Not Apply” option
for avoiding this fee? Thanks, Orchid!

Allan

Because I don’t electronically submit my processing, or store it on a
computer, they did a phone review with me, and I only paid a $25 fee
annually for the compliance certification. But it was still a fee.

I’m going to suggest, and no, I don’t have a connection with them
other than being a satisfied customer, that if you are looking for a
good processor and especially if you don’t use your machine heavily
every month that you give Teamac a call.

They are wonderful, believe in giving back to the artists and so far
I have been happier with them than I have been with any other
service in years. Yes, I might get some kind of $10 credit for
referring you to them…I’m not sure since I have never claimed it
before. Honestly though, they have great customer service and no
unknown, surprise or hidden fees. Very low cost.
