Making purple gold flat bottomed granules

I am a jewelry hobbyist. I have taken a beginning metalworking
class and am comfortable making jewelry in silver. I make and use
granules of silver as accents soldered onto the pieces often.

Having seen purple gold in the latest issue of Art Jewelry and for
sale on a metal clay site, I have a couple of questions. Can the
commerically available purple gold be made into granules with a
torch and then soldered on as accents? If so, would the best way be
to make flat bottomed granules and then use paste solder? Some of the
posts on purple gold from June did not leave me with a clear picture
about whether this is feasible.

Thanks to all of you for helping a beginner.
