MAKER 2002 (California) questions

Hello, I haven’t posted a message in a while but I have happily
enjoyed reading Orchid for years. I returned to school full time a
few months ago to study silversmithing and sculpture at the
California College of Arts and Crafts. One of my instructors, Jack
DeSilva, hosts a retreat every year with multiple workshops that all
look wonderful! I would like to know if anyone on Orchid has attended
the retreat or will be this year (It’s mid June). If you have, please
let me know, I’d love to talk to you about it. I’m particularly
interested in the courses by Bob Coogan on Mokume Gane and forging. I
hope to meet some of you there!

Amy, I attended MAKER last year in 2001 and plan to go this year
again for Komelia’s workshop. I will be happy to talk to you. Please
feel free to call me at (650) 8581157.

Hi Amy, Depending on timing, this retreat could be in conflict with
the annual SNAG (Society of North American Goldsmiths) conference in
Denver. I don’t have the exact dates on hand, but mid-June is how it
is filed in my memory banks.

Where in CA is the California College of Arts and Crafts?

HI Amy - I attended MAKR 2 yrs ago, and it was a blast! The cottages
are a bit rustic, but - hey, its jewelry camp for us big kids! I
found that all of the instructors were very willing to share their
techniques, and the camaraderie w/ the other jewelers was great.

I might go to some of the workshops this year, still undecided.

Feel free to contact me if y u want to discuss further -
