[Looking4] Aquamarine Cabachon

I am looking for a 20 carat or so round or oval aquamarine cabachon.
I can spend up to $15 US or so on it, so if you have one just
sitting around collecting dust…

Thanks, Stacy

Uh, I think you are dreaming at that price point. Do you have any
experience at all with such materials?

for a 20 carat stone (aquamarine) the price should be on the order
of: $15 to $40 per carat, so your stone will cost you somewhere
around $300 to $800 USD.

Oh, man, caught in the Fleabay dream zone! Thanks for the reality
check!

Gemorex has had some pretty oval aqua cabs at recent shows. They are
silky, greenish, and a stone that size will probably run $50 or more.
The 12-15mm oval that I bought was about $65 I think.

I bought a faceted aquamarine a few years ago at $1/ct. I think it
was about 11 carats. There was basically no color in it to speak of,
so quality was on par with the price. It wasn’t worth cabbing and
only had its refractive qualities to give it any value.

What? Colorless Aquamarine is still Beryl and as such would be
Goshenite. Goshenite is not without value. It beats clear topaz,
that’s a fact. The late Jeff Graham stated he would price Goshenite
at a minimum of $38 per ct. So Ray, you got a good deal.
