I’ve been searching the web for sites which might have images of
jewelry, especially “art jewelry” or one-offs from Japan. does
anyone know of such a site?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I've been searching the web for sites which might have images of
jewelry, especially "art jewelry" or one-offs from Japan. does
anyone know of such a site?

As old-fashoned Japanese culture we have only one “jewelry”. That’s
“kanzashi”, Japanese hair pins. Ceramics, Buddist sculptures and
Buddist buildings were almost all in Japanese culture.

But I’ll write some keyword of Japanese culture, those may be useful
for jewelres.

raden: ornaments that is made by embedding mother of perl onto wood,
tortoiseshell, etc. http://www.mantokuya.com/framepage2.htm

mokuge-gane: woodden-like pattern by soldering many colorful layer
arroys. www.mokume-gane.com

kanzashi: japanese hair pin. www.lucky-co.co.jp/profile.htm

bekkou: ornaments made by tortoiseshell.

bosatsu: Buddist sculptures.

kongou rikishi: one kind of buddist sculptures.

houou: Japanese phenix. www.amarume.co.jp/news.htm

ryuu: Japanese (Chinese) dragon.

You can search much more pictures with the aboves words. Please try
Google Image Search. http://images.google.com/

Japanese language is far from English, so if you want to convert any
English words to Japanese alphabetical words, that can be used as
search keywords like this E-mail and different from our usual
expressions, please ask me.

I hope this helps, Takashi Tomoeda @Takashi_Tomoeda1

I found some interesting Japanese jewelry at the following sites:

http://www2.raidway.ne.jp/~takahiko/top.html Be sure to scroll all the
way done. There’s a cool ear jewelry “thing.”

This site is for a magazine called “Precious” which appears to be
much like “Ornament” is in the United States.
http://www.japanprecious.com/ Click on What’s New to see magazine
covers.

http://www.kigoshi.com/ A “jewelry designin’ saloon.” There’s a
little bit of English on this site.

http://web.reedexpo.co.jp/ijt/english/index.html There’s a list of
“designer’s jewellery.” You can then search on individual designers.

http://web.reedexpo.co.jp/ijk/english/index.html Click on English and
then go to the 2001 exhibitor list. Many of the exhibitors have a
link to a website.

http://www.artresources.com/guide/featured.image.index.ihtml?step=2&st
artnum=1&maxvalue=9&c=27&n=781 This gallery seems to have many
Japanese artists but I’m too tired to look at them and figure out
which ones are jewelry.

Hope this helps you find what you’re looking for.
