London jewelry attractions

I am travelling to London and the UK In late July and all of August
this year and would like to see examples of contemporary jewellery
and perhaps meet some contemporary jewellers. Has anyone got any
good advice? Milton Long, Australia

The International Jewellery London trade show is on in early Sept.
It is really worth seeing. This will give you the opportunity to
meet the very best England has to offer. I will be doing my first
show this year, wish me luck!

Hi Milton:

I asked the same question back in Dec. of last year…got great
suggestions…

My Dec. trip fell through, BUT I was able to make it in Jan. and I
really

  1. Victoria & Albert Museum – everything is inspiring, but their
    jewellery collection is AMAZING.

  2. the London Silver Vaults – more antique stuff, but still quite
    remarkable

  3. the Lesley Craze Gallery.

…and check out the website of the Academy of Contemporary
Jewellers http://www.ganoksin.com/gnkurl/ep803v

Have a splendid time!

cheers,

Other ideas all excellent.

Dont overlook 'The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths Bit of a mouthful
but formed as a trade guild in 1300 approx.

But a very progressive organisation.

The Goldsmiths' Company Home - The Goldsmiths' Company They have interesting
exhibitions coming up of modern crafts.

look at ‘Who’s Who in Gold and Silver’ Also people not conversant
with the true meaning of hallmarking should look at ‘Exploring
Hallmarking’
